TURNING  WEAKNESS INTO STRENGTH AS A CHRISTIAN

A.WEAKNESS
Weakness on a general term can be defined as:
i.                    The state or condition of being weak, synonymous to frailty, feebleness:

ii.                  A disadvantages or fault; similar to shortcomings, flaws, fault, failure

iii.                A person or a thing that one is unable to resist or likes excessively

iv.                 “Astheneia”  is the Greek word used for weakness which means want of strength, illness, suffering, weakness and frailty: Judges 16:17

v.                  It also  refers to an ailment that deprives someone of enjoying or accomplishing what they would like to do

vi.                Weakness can be defined medically as the symptoms of some health conditions.

vii.              Weakness can be defined spiritually as a condition where a person requires more effort to perform a spiritual task or actions.

viii.            The above stated definitions are used to express weakness as it applies to us universally.


B.STRENGTH
i.                    The quality or state of being physically strong: Leviticus 26:20

ii.                  Influence or power possessed by a person, nation or organization: Judges 3:12,Nahum 3;9

iii.                the emotional or mental qualities necessary in dealing with difficult or distressing situations: Deuteronomy 3:28

iv.                 a good or beneficial quality or attribute of a person or thing: Genesis 4:12,Prov 10:15

v.                   the capacity of an object or substance to withstand great force or pressure: Nehemiah 2:11-18

vi.                The Greek word “Dunamis” is used to describe miraculous power, strength and the word” Kratos” for might.

From the definitions given above, we may conclude that weakness and strength goes beyond physical frailty and muscular ability.

C.TYPES OF WEAKNESS AND STRENGTH
This section will discuss  several types of weakness and strength available, it's  worth mentioning that one might be lacking or weak in one area and yet be absolutely strong in other area.
i.                    Medical weakness and strength: illness, sickness and disability: Romans 14:2

ii.                  Physical weakness and strength; muscular development, abilities and weakness :Job 40:18

iii.                Mental and Cognitive weakness and strength: Luke 2:40

iv.                 Spiritual weakness and strength; ability to do spiritual exercises like fasting, spiritual warfare and  ministration: Psalms 109:24, Mathew 26:41


TURNING  WEAKNESS INTO STRENGTH
 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2nd Corinthians 12:9 
Turning ones weakness to strength  as a christian can be explained as knowing what weakens us, the sources of those weaknesses, the signs of the weaknesses and recognizing our strengths.

The following steps may need to be taking into consideration for anyone to be able to turn their weakness to strength, the steps is application to everyone, no matter the types of weakness one is experiencing and the  steps to turning weaknesses to strength can be summarized thus:

 i. Identify the sources of the weakness; the first step to identifying our weakness is know what can weaken us physically, medically, mentally and spiritually. Numbers.13:11

 ii. identifying the signs or symptoms of the weakness: for us to be able to properly turn our weakness to strength, the symptom and the signs must be acknowledged: 2nd Corinthians 12;10

 iii. Knowing the quantity and quality of the strength available to us: anyone who desires to turn his or her weakness to strength without know the resources, tools weapon, manpower and strength available would definitely be unsuccessful. Mathew 11:28,2nd Corinthians 10:4-5

 iv. Knowing how and what can enhance turning the weakness to strength: after the awareness of the available strength, the next step is to know how to use them to our advantage.

CONCLUSION
The desire to turn our weaknesses to strength requires more than mere words, prayers and desires; it requires having a thorough knowledge of what befall us and the resources available. We cannot be totally free from weaknesses as they remind us that we are alive and will always be dependent on God and resources around us for success.
“Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded”-2nd Chronicles 15:7
 “And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.”-Zechariah 8:13 

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” – 1st Corinthians 10:13
